Troublemaker Conference and Workshop

My keynote at OCAD University in Toronto reframes troublemaking through the lens of my cultural perspective and my experiences as a design educator and practitioner working at the intersection of art and design. I hope to shift the negative perception of the troublemaker as a disruptive individual who merely causes difficulties, distress or worry for others. I will argue that making good trouble with others is an essential and urgent task for artists and designers. It is only by engaging actively, creatively, and ethically with the complexities and messiness of the world and embracing its uncertainties and challenges that different futures and relationships are possible in our troubling times. The troublemaker is a catalyst for change but also undergoes their own transformation, shaped by the connections encountered.
